The Thursday session this week was a little different as professional artist Liam Dickinson, a finalist in Sky's Portrait Artist of the Year in 2017, came and delivered a fascinating demonstration. This was his second visit to the group and this time he produced a landscape study of Rivington in oils.
He explained his method for blocking in the initial colours and then his procedure for developing the image further through refinement. Throughout the demonstration Liam plied us with his knowledge, his hints and tips and expressed his unique way of working to a packed room which included visitors and guests from other local art groups. You could hear a pin drop (or should that be a brush?). Suzanne, Sue and Paul excelled with home made cakes and nibbles during the mid session break. The atmosphere was buzzing.
